Mesta Electronics Partners to Power Penn State Semiconductor Research

Mesta Electronics is proud to announce its role as a founding member of the Silicon Carbide Innovation Alliance (SCIA), launched by Penn State University to establish the United States’ central hub for research, development, and workforce training in silicon carbide (SiC) crystal technology.

To support the SCIA’s work, Mesta has donated two 50kW Induction Heating Power Supplies, valued at $96,000, which will be installed in the Academic Activities Building at Penn State’s University Park campus. These advanced power supplies are critical for maintaining the precise, stable high-temperature conditions required to grow high-quality silicon carbide crystals—an essential material for next-generation semiconductors used in electric vehicles, renewable energy infrastructure, and high-voltage applications.
